The Voice Behind The Character

What do you mean Bart is a girl? Well not Bart himself but the voice behind him is actually female. Nancy Cartwright is the person who does Bart's vocals and you have got to take your hat off to her because she does a damn good job. Many people would struggle to talk like the opposite gender but not this woman. It just comes naturally to her and it also helps her do the vocals for many other characters in the show.

Nancy has won many awards for her voice-over work, her first coming in 1989 but her first major award came in 1992 when she was given an Emmy for "Outstanding Voice-Over Performance." It was after this that she went on to win the "Peoples Choice Award" and many more. Her most successful year was in 1997 when she won 6 major awards which included an Annie Award.

Nancy has recently completed her book, "My Life as a Ten-Year-Old Boy" which is her personal biography.
